Alyson Plays the Guzheng

Alyson Plays the Guzheng

Please join us in welcoming a new instrument to the 2019 festival: the Guzheng – a plucked string instrument with over 2,500-years of history.  The modern Guzheng is 64″ long with 21 strings, tuned to a major pentatonic scale.  The player wears 4 finger-picks on each hand to draw out beautiful sounds.

Alyson, a third grader at Prospect Hill, has been playing this traditional Chinese instrument for 3 years, and loves it.  She has played talent shows, Chinese New Year performances and Asian traditional performing arts competitions.

She is looking forward to sharing it with us, and we are looking forward to hearing her play.
